I’ve ridden 90+km rides with masses of elevation but have I ever hit a round 100km? I thought not. So I went out to change that.

  1. When you said “ I stepped off the train “ I thought you were going to break into missing by everything but the girl 🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the highly entertaining video 🚴🏽‍♀️

  2. I enjoyed this! Good to see you up here in my roads and lanes after I followed your suggestion and took a train down to your parts before riding back home to Somerset a few weeks back. All those narrow, straight drove roads (the tarmac ones!) are brilliant local riding. They're level and don't see much traffic, but as you found – tend to be quite breezy! I'm really glad the weather cheered up for you. That makes alllll the difference. Congrats on racking up the 100k!! 👏

  3. Considering my dislike of hills I really should get off my backside and visit the Levels. I was due to ride a 100k Audax there last year but a bout of covid buggered that up. The ride began and ended near Bristol, so there was the small issue of the Mendips to get over (twice), but other than that it all looked admirably flat.

Anyway, congrats on your first century. I find the hardest part tends to be mental, so big kudos for keeping on when you were feeling so miserable at the start, and I can fully appreciate how good that coffee made you feel. There's a 60km gap in places to stop on the Dun Run and the last 20km of that gap I am driven entirely by the thought of a cup of tea and something hot in a bread roll.

  4. Congrats on the metric century! I saw that you had a light on the front this time. Did you remember to get it blinking on the road sections? Red light on the back? Aldi sells really good, CHEAP, "see me" lights in a set for about $20AUD. They weigh nothing, run long enough to complete that century ride, and could be used as "I need to see the road" lights if you got caught-out in darkness. Be safe, and keep making excellent videos….please.

  5. First 100k always good. Petrol stations can be good as resupply as they open for longer. TBF i always take enough in case, boy scout style, as there is nothing worse than running out of oomph with 20k to go. 160k is worth a go once. It's a bit of a slog.

  6. Nice on KP and now your next challenge should be 100km on your own patch in Dartmoor. Have you a GPX file for your route as I fancy a bash at that. Cheers
