Day 2 of owning a used fuji sportif 2.1 i decided to clean the chain and put on some wet lube.
LSS after putting it up right again the front derailleur seems to be touching the chain and the front gears won’t change(Don’t think it’s related but the bike has 2 front gears and the shifter seems to go through 3 positions)
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

The extra clicks in shifter are called trim. It allows for a bit of cross chaining. Ie big big and small small gear combos. As for why it’s not shifting, I can’t really help you there. When you attempt to shift to big chain ring can you feel cable tighten. As it’s on low ring now, can you move the mech by hand?

    2. From what i can see, the front derailleur is not parallel to the chain ring. This is a common issue. Many stores/brands don’t properly torque the derailleur clamp, so when you shift under a bit of power, the derailleur rotates on the seat tube. Hell, some don’t even touch the factory adjustment. If it changes gears, it works, even though the factory set-up is shit. Almost all the new bikes i assembled when i used to be a gear wrench, had the front derailleur clamp not properly torqued. The front derailleur needs a proper adjustment, as it most likely doesn’t change gears well any way.

Shimano actually recommends, for all front derailleur models (be they brazed on, or with regular clamp), a mounting bolt torque of 5 to 7 Nm. That is like 2 times more that what you usually see those clamps tightened to.
