I was reading an interview with Steve House(alpinist) and he was talking about how, you shouldn’t sell your first ice tools, your first rock shoes. I wish I had my MKS touring pedals on a shelf still. Those things were scorched!

I once swerved too close to the curb as I was turning my head to check traffic behind. At full speed. I got catapulted out of the saddle and both my rear wheel and my ass launched in the air at least 50 cm. How the hell I’ve managed to maintain control I don’t know, but it took me a few minutes to vent adrenaline out of the system. That had happened on a really nasty intersection with a lot of lorries, so falling could really be fatal.
Pedal wasn’t as messed up, but the crank was actually bent
