Hi everyone, I was trying to get the wheel a bit closer to the frame to get the cool effect but I figured out that if I do it I either have too much slack in the chain or I have it super tensioned if I remove a link, what would you recommend doing? Is getting a bigger gear the only option? Thanks

  1. Depends on how much space you still have in the dropouts and how new the chain is.

If the chain is new-ish, I’d remove the link and run it tighter for a while, it will lengthen over time and loosen up.

This would result in a nice tuck and it will give you plenty space for future tightening.

  2. If you’re happy with the ratio you’re currently running then you’ll have to get a half link and use that to shorten it just a bit.

If you were looking to increase the ratio you could get a larger chainring, or if you were looking to decrease your ratio then you get get a larger rear cog.

If you have the space you could also size up the size of the tire you have on there and it would fill up more of that space.

You could potentially do multiple of these things it it isn’t sitting where you want it to.

Best of luck and happy riding!
