  1. It is an original Longus Comp 2000 with Tange MTB butted tubing, Deore DX and LX Components.

I rode it a few km from the man who gifted it to me, but then the front derailleur cable seized, so i put a cane in it to fix it to the center chainring, but when i lubed the chain, it would skip the teeth all the time.

So i already bought a new chain and a new middle chainring. Sadly they sent me a narrow wide one, not a normal one, can i still use it? Haven’t found any sets of 110BCD chainrings that are affordable. But what else should i put on it?

So far i have two school of thoughts:

    * gravelize it with a different stem and dropbar. I have a set of RX100 STIs which would work well with the original shifter and an 8s cassette.
    * romance it with a cruiser bar, leather grips and friction thumbies.

In both cases to be cool enough for xbiking, i’d probably need to get rid of the rear rack and add a front rack or basket instead.

would you paint the frame or just put plenty of coloured stickers on it to make it look more rad? I don’t think the original Longus paintjob is very charming.

clean and regrease as many bearings as you can (headset, wheels, bb) – definitely great the seat post.

I’d put a front rack on it since you have some eyelets on the fork.

If you’re already messing with the chainrings, maybe you could put a new crankset on with a compact double rather than the triple.

All of these things sound like a touring bike… Maybe go that route?

    Just some ideas. Have fun!

  3. That’s a fantastic paint job, looks like a first gen Singular Peregrine. I’d say with that many components worn out it’s definitely a candidate for a complete conversion. Of the two options you gave, I would suggest gravelise if it has a (relatively) short top tube, and romance it if it’s a long boi. That way you make the most of the geometry for each type of bar.
