So I have this bike rack and when i load my bike on it the shock is too close to the frame so the only way to mount it is on the rear shock and on the linkage. What I was wondering is if its fine for most of the weight to be on the rear shock for a 30 min trip to the bike park?

It’s fine if you don’t mind destroying your bike.
No. Don’t rest your shock on the bike rack. You need an extension bar that goes from the stem to the seat tube.[Yakima Top Tube](https://yakima.com/products/tubetop?srsltid=AfmBOoqDMPNQODN7lqIiSdmrn6YFf_KZKa3rJ9NHBzViYGbXTiJH79Lo)
Hitch or roof rack is the answer
Not something I’d do, the shock isn’t designed to take that force. Either get a [bar adapter](https://radpowerbikes.ca/products/bike-adapter-bar) and hope it doesn’t fail or look into a different style rack/put the bike in the car.
Buy one of the bars that supports the seat and headset/handlebars. Yakima etc. Just need to make sure your bike is off the ground enough to go up a slope while driving and not scrape your mtb tires!
No, it’s not ok. Go to a bike shop and grab an adapter. The best ones are bars with adjustable lengths, with a hook on each end. Put one hook on your stem, the other on your seat post. goes from your stem. Runs about $34 at my shop
I wouldnt trust one of those with a multi thousand dollar bike.
Honestly, it’s best to get a one up bike rack. Or in your case, a roof rack bike carrier. You got a nice bike, it’s best to carrier it proper. You can always sell it for and recoup money if need be.
That rack will jack your car up. It will leave dents and scratches if that matters to you.
Get the adapter, but make sure the bikes won’t drag or that the tires don’t get cooked by the exhaust. Or sell it and buy a proper hitch or roof rack.
Try hanging the bike by the downtube instead of the top tube. If one of the wheels drags just put a skateboard under it.
Get some pipe insulation foam from home depo and cut a small piece to protect your shock when it’s on the wrack. It’s not ideal but I did it for 5 years with no issues.
These are the worst way to move a bike outside of trying it to the rear hitch and dragging it down the road.
