Just over a year after the Glasgow Super Worlds, the UCI Road World Championships are back with a more traditional format! Kicking off this Sunday in Zurich, Switzerland, the event will span 8 days, featuring 11 races, including road races and time trials for Elite riders, juniors, and MALE U23s. For the first time, the Para World Championships will also run concurrently with the event.

In this Preview Show, Dan will break down the courses – which aren’t as challenging as anticipated -and take a closer look at the top favourites for the Elite races.

  1. Play the numbers game with Roglic — something like Pog and Adam winning 2 & 3 in TDF 2023. This time Pog 1 Roglic 2. Remco–the most stylish among them–#3.

  2. There are rumours that Van der Poel has sacrified 5 kg of what probably was mostly muscles. Significantly less power in order to get better power to weight ratio. This sacrify might be to big to win.

  3. I had the pleasure of seeing Pogačar race in Montréal. I would be surprised if he does not win on the Men’s side. He really is special. The only thing I will say is that in Montréal his UAE teammates really turned themselves inside out to support him. Split support in Slovenian squad may be different? I think the Women’s race goes to Vollering…if only because she must be motivated in the moment, after the accident and team tactics cost her the Tour de France by mere seconds. I too would love Derek Gee to get a result. I had a lovely talk with his mom and brother before the Montréal race. Great people. Go 🇨🇦 Go!

  4. After watching the TT, I think the race will between Remco and Pog. It looks like Roglic is fading after the Vuelta. I think there is too much climbing for MVDP and Mads.
