Hello everyone,

I need some advice! My previous bike, which was worth around 600 euros, was stolen recently, and I’m urgently looking for a new one to get to work. I found a fixed gear bike for 120 euros, and from the pictures, it looks good to me, but I was wondering if it was worth buying it.

For context, I mostly ride on flat roads but sometimes on hills. I also like to ride for fun and exercise, so a good fixed gear bike is important to me.

The seller says: “Fixie in good condition, wheels bought from the Santa Fixie website, Michelin tires, new crankset. Price is negotiable. Everything is in good shape, the only things not changed are the brake calipers and cables, but I use it every weekend and haven’t had any issues. The bike was originally bought from Go Sport. The saddlebag comes with the bike and is handcrafted in England.”

I’ve attached pictures of the bike—do you think 120 euros is a fair deal for it? If I should just buy a brand new one instead of this one..? Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

    1. You’re looking at 100 Euro fixie, that’s right. There’s nothing good about it, but that’s to be expected for a hundred. Gaspipe tubing, wheelset weights a ton, tires are garbage and the rest is just varies from acceptable to cheapest-we-can-find.

Are you sure you’re looking for a fixed gear bike? Have you ridden one before? They are very different from regular bikes.
