Hi all,

So I’m in the market for a new bike. I’d like to get more into the gravel side of things, but I also am quite interested in bikepacking. So I’m aiming for something to bomb around my mellow city gravel trails, and bike pack with someday. Probably only 3-4 day weekend bike pack excursions at the moment, I live near the rocky mountains, so bikepacking would probably be mostly forest service gravel dirt roads and asphalt highways in between.

So I’ve found a few bikes around me that seem like they could fit the bill –

Two fatter tire (650 x47c) steel bikes the Kona Rove DL($1850 CAD) and the Marin Nicasio+ ($1200 CAD)

One aluminum frame bike with thinner larger tires (700c) Salsa Journeyer 2.1 GRX 810 ($2800 CAD)

    And a Surly straggler 700c ($2350 CAD)

The gravel trails around me are pretty mellow, so I’m thinking 650 B tires might be overkill for what I’ll be riding on for the most part. But I do like the idea of how they act as a little bit of a cushion, making it easier to sit in the saddle all day.

Any comments would be much appreciated!
