Bought this bike from Canyon 10 months ago. Only has 500 miles on it and I take good care of it; don’t shift under load, don’t cross chain, and I don’t put down big power numbers. I’m a casual cyclist who does it just for fitness. The bike hasn’t been in any falls or crashes. Everything is stock except the wheels and a waxed dura ace chain (can verify it was installed correctly).Â
Was out for a ride today and everything seemed fine until while going down a slight decline and pedaling casually, I thought my chain had fallen off. This seemed very strange since I hadn’t shifted gears. I looked down to see the lower part of my rear derailleur dragging on the ground! I inspected it and saw the point of failure, and unfortunately it also caused a bend in one of my chain links. Rather than trying to shorten the chain and ride it home, I called for a ride.
