In this video, I’m cycling from Norway to Lapland and, at the end, taking the train to get to the southern part of Finland.

When leaving Magerøya Island, the weather was good, and the sea was calm, unlike when I arrived here during a storm and rain.

Going back toward Finland, I encountered some days with a headwind, but after experiencing the harsh weather in Nordkapp, this was bearable.

Along the way, I went wild camping a couple of times, otherwise sleeping at campsites. Some of these campsites were closed, I had to wash myself and my clothes in a small river. In one of the sites, I found potable water and power to charge my electronic devices.

The first place I rested for a full day after getting back to Finland, just a couple of kilometers after crossing the border, was Galdotieva. The second night here was the coldest so far, 5 degrees Celsius. But it was also the best night as I saw the northern lights, after midnight between 1 and 2 a.m.

I had to wait for the train and ferry that leads to the next leg of my journey for 2 days. At the end of this part, I was pedaling less and also had time for a short visit to Sweden as I was cycling next to the border.

I took the night train from Kolari to Turku with a changeover in Tampere, where I had almost 2 hours to wait. During that time, I explored the city a bit on a rainy day.

In Turku, I found a couple of apple trees on the side of the road. They were the first in Finland. The apples were small and shiny—I’d never seen such a type—but they tasted good nevertheless.
