We used to visit Newport when I was a kidlet in the 70s and early 80s. My old man had a mate in the navy who lived there. I can't remember the name of the road, but it was not far from the M4, and was a main road, with a church at the bottom and a council estate behind it.

Nice…
I've been eagerly awaiting the newest instalment of GLC Port History… and this did not disappoint.
Brings back memories of living there many, many years ago. Thanks for these videos!

I'm not from Newport, I've never been there either, you don't have to bet me a fiver.
So I appreciate these videos.
When I lived on the Ridgeway as a Lad I could see the transporter bridge, happy times………then we moved to Swansea and it was Shite.
I hope that you had a nice cup of tea at your mother's house. ☕ 🏡
Putting Port up there now with Barca; Paris and LA. Close but 'Le Cas' shades it for the cherubs on Maindee bridge. Peace Port
