Trek have sent me the latest carbon fibre Top Fuel frameset for a series of different build ups and I can’t wait to see what I can create. Because rather than playing it safe, I’m going to twist it up a bit with some alternative choices to keep it interesting. So let me know whether you love the fork, bar and brake choices I’ve made in the comments as I crack on with the first part of this series.

    1. is that a threaded bsa bottom bracket? oh my lord have trek come to their senses! I've got a NOS trek 9.9 ssl from 2012 I've built up and the bb90 bottom bracket is terrible, i call the bike maccasin as it cant go in puddles 😂

    2. Guy… my partner Short is running a Markhor on her Rock Hopper for four reasons…
1)It is probably the best 29 qr straight steerer fork out there.
      2)It is black and red
3)We used to live in Colorado Springs, which is where most people think that Pike's peak, namesake of such MTB legends as the Pike and the Zeb (also one of the homes of Sram)is. As "locals", however, we know that Manitou Springs is where the mountain actually is. There is a famous hike up a staircase on the lower slopes of the climb called the Manitou Incline that is worth a visit. The Army stages runs up it on occasion.
      4) I bought it for her.

      Cheers
      Smitty

    3. Always good to see something other than sram on a bike these days. Unrelated to this video (sorry) I’m pretty close to getting a 5010 V5 frame and switching over my TB4 parts. Do you think there will be a significant difference in regard to capability on terrain like wharny and in the peaks?

    4. Love what they did with the bike. But their color options are not to my liking. Dislike the red. And the way they created a band strip with the logo. Love the raw carbon look with shadow logos. And I do love what you’re doing with it even though.
