Total cycling noob and got my first flat- I’ve replaced the inner tube and re-mounted the tire but can’t get tire to stop bouncing/wobbling. The wheel itself seems to spin fine but the tire is bouncing- I’ve tried deflating and reseating the tire several times to no avail. I don’t see how the wheel could be out of true since it was working fine before the flat. Any help would be much appreciated!

Why is my tire bouncing like this?

    1. Your tire isn’t seated properly! I dealt with this when I was originally learning how to fix flats.

Something I’ve found to be incredibly useful when re-mounting tires is to run some soapy water around the rim and tire bead. This way when you pump the tire/tube back up, it will ‘snap’ back into place easier.

    2. The bead isn’t fully set right. Try inflating it to maximum pressure on the tire, and it might pop into place. If that doesn’t work, deflate it, but keep it on the rim, try rubbing some soapy water along the bead on either side and reinflating it.

    3. if you look at where your tire meets the rim, there should be a thin line on the tire right above the rim. If it’s not seated all the way, some of that line will be under the rim. Keep pumping the tire until you hear it pop into place. Wouldn’t exceed 100psi, but fine to go over tire rating.

    4. You have **vertical wobble** with 2 likely causes: (1) tire not seating right (2) Rim Damage from impact. I had a nasty road bike accident from hitting a debris, the wheel does that vertical hop thing.
