    1. You are so brave !
It's a good idea to follow the canals, we always have cycle paths that run along them, they are nice routes, maybe not for riding too fast but for peace of mind it's excellent and these canals are long!!! Canal de la Marne au rhin, canal du midi, canal du rhone au rhin, etc.
Nice way to travel France for vacation !

    2. Buy yourself a small bottle of tea tree oil, best thing I discovered on you tube. Use after ride, pre ride or anytime, the healing is very very quick! As a saddle sore sufferer I feel your pain! Keep going though as I know you will 🙂

    3. You're chucking some big daily miles in. TCR next year? As for France and food, my wife and I cycled to our French home from Bath. We had romantic ideas of coffee stops and lunches on our way down . The reality became supermarkets and occasional boulangaries because France was closed! Not nice having a blister there though. I'm not that tough. SNCF for me!

    4. When I started cycling I did it for mental health, and to improve my overall health and lose weight. But I was worried about my size (as well as what it would look like wearing lycra). I was also worried about climbs (you know…power to weight ratios and all that), but now I just see them as a slightly harder challenge than for the skinny young whippersnappers! Pleased to say that I dropped 15kg pretty fast, and now (to use your terms) I don't give a shiny what others think. I am just doing it for myself, and to enjoy it!

    5. Because you're English, French treated you not so nicely and generously… Traditionally French are famous "having snake in the pocket" I experienced that many times while visiting France and French families.
