I start riding down the Nile river, hoping to go from Abu Sir to Beni Suef. When I reach Dahshur, the police stops me. First, they keep at the checkpoint for 2 hours, before allowing me to continue my way to Beni Suef. Very soon after they released me, the police catches me again, and starts escorting me on my way down South. A few minutes later, they tell me to stop, and they force me to return to the check point where the caught me first. I stay three more hours with the police at the check point, and they finally decide that I have to return to my accomodation in Abu Sir…
Then, the police starts monitoring all my movements through the reception of the guest house where I stay. Two days later, I decide to head down to Beni Suef by taxi, hoping to be able to get rid of the police monitoring in Beni Suef, in order to continue my journey towards southern Egypt. But when I go to Beni Suef, the police keeps monitoring me by calling every 5 minutes my taxi driver, also, they provide me several police escorts all the way to Beni Suef, while there is no danger at all. The taxi driver just hallucinates with what the police is doing with me.
Once I arrive in Beni Suef, the police tells me that I am not allowed to go in the streets of Beni Suef on my own, I have to call the police in order to have a police escort, if I want to go out in the streets of Beni Suef. The hotel manager also does not understand what is going on, and why does the police do that. I finally understand that the police harasses me to make give up on the idea to cycle across Egypt. Nothing makes sense, but I can’t do anything against the arbitrary rules set up by the Egyptian police, so I decide to give on cycling in Egypt.

    1. If the police is doing all that "for your safety", they are sending the message that Egypt is not safe and people should not travel there for their safety.

    2. It's just insane that you can't feel freedom in the Egypt. I feel all your pain and sadness after watching this video. 😞

    3. You're saying, that you have never been in an islamic police state before?!!! That's why Iraq is so nice because it is the exception now. Iraq was just like that in the past.

    4. Every single video I see from Egypt is the same non sense from the Egyptian police. They look like clowns changing plans every time and with no valid arguments. Corrupt, BEGGARS! They aren't smart also. The image Egypt built for tourists is just harassment, prohibitions and non sense. Every single person who has traveled to Egypt had gone though some shit and waste of time with the Egyptian Police. Never that I'll spend money in this country!

    5. Hey, it's your fault my friend.. if you think you're jailed and/or you are a "national threat" as you missioned!! you should make it a National issue by calling your embassy (French Embassy) from day one. And watch them Sh!tting their pants. you would never be locked for even a minute. corruption is everywhere, but in meddle east they took 90% of it. Good luck next time (Now you know what to do) 😉

    6. The world doesn’t revolve around you. You have to adapt to the places that you are in. If you want to ride your bike stay in France, It is not fair for you to know that they don’t want you to ride your bike but you’re whole mission is to ride a bike. Sometimes you need to conform and not be rebellious to enjoy the finer things ion a country. It just comes off as privileged, its not like you didn’t know the rules, they told you every chance they got but you were still trying to finesse. SMH

    7. hi there kino yves , may you please grant me the access to re upload this video to my facebook page for god sake ? i really need this , , ,

    8. Never visit Egypt! This is not a normal place to visit nowadays! The whole country is run by a totalitarian murderer in a North-Korea-like system. Foreigners are constantly watched by local informants and reported to the police for suspicious activity (which is simply to film the locals and the surrounding areas). Many tourists including, Julio Regini (an Italian PhD student), were murdered by the authorities for either filming the locals or being mistaken for who knows what.

    9. Didn't anyone tell you that Egypt has a dictatorial military rule that brought about a coup against an elected president. You should study the history of Egypt. You will find suspense, excitement and pleasure more than your travels. For the record, I am from Beni Suef.

    10. My friend: Unfortunately, the ruling regime in Egypt is a coward and dirty regime, and scumbags authorities, that are afraid of a camera and a bicycle.

    11. For the last ten years, Egypt is occupied by the military so imagine the fear that the Egyptians are facing under this regime that by the way supported by The (democratic and civilized West)😒

    12. I am Egyptian, and I warn everyone against visiting Egypt, because it is possible to lose even your life, as happened with the Italian student Regeni, who was killed by the Egyptian police and threw his body on the road, claiming that a gang kidnapped and killed him, then the Egyptian police killed five innocent Egyptians to cover up this brutal crime, and I remember meeting the mother of the murdered Italian who said they killed him as if he was an Egyptian.

    13. A tourism focused economy is a risk to the national economy but a tourism focused economy with political and liberal pressure is an act of stupidity that will cause bankruptcy

    14. I am an Egyptian police conscript, conscription in Egypt is mandatory for all males with brothers above the age of 20 and below the age of 35, and the orders is to follow tourists in their tours around the city every single bus tour for tourists is being followed by an Egyptian police vehicle we sometimes manage to move more than a single herd of busses with one police car during tourism seasons we literally get orders to make sure that tourists don't move around and just stick with preorganized tour a lot of police conscripts come from poverty background receiving only 331 EGP per month do the math and you know that some of them beg some money from tourists my colleagues do that too and it's very common practice in the police even some officers low ranking and high ranking do that too so what happened with him isn't a coincidence but a planned act in the ministry of interior to control strayed tourists in order to avoid any accident to save their lives.

    15. حكومات العرب معتوهين لاتزورو الاماكن العربية ولا تقربوها انها أراضي ملكية خاصة لحكامها
      وشعوبها عبارة عن عبيد عندهم

    16. Your content is very wonderful, I am from Jordan, the Egyptian government is very unjust to the poor people, because Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took the presidency by force, and everyone who speaks even one word goes to jail. ??

    17. I'm so sorry about what happen we have a good country but there things need to get fixed like the scammers and the places and people im so sorry about what happened 😮‍💨
