I run an expensive cassette (aren’t they all these days?) so I am very vigilant about chain wear. I always check more than one point & always include the quick link as that seems to be the ‘ahem’ weakest link.
Currently on my 4th chain without issue.

In each photo the left side of the gauge is set between different plates (inner vs outer). Park Tool recommends measuring between the inner plates for their CC4.2.

Is that a single speed chain checker ? Usually in my experience I get the same stuff with a geared version but my track one works great 🤷♂️
