I have a Canyon Grand Canyon 8 and it has mounting points which I can fit a rack to.

Has anyone had success or any problems doing this?
The Canyon manuals say their mountain bikes don’t support racks at all.

    1. If those are fender mounts and you load them with a rack the bike won’t last very long

If you don’t have mounts you can try something like the aeroe rack that mounts to the seat stays

Check out the Old Man Mountain Elkhorn. Looks like they have a fit kit (SET826) for the Canyon Grand Canyon.

PS – no relationship to them. But have an elkhorn on a Surly Grappler as the rack is a good fit with a dropper seat post.

The upper mounts are definitely rack mounts, and the lower ones are cast as part of the droppouts. It also makes more sense to see rack mounts on a MTB than fender mounts. I’d say go ahead a rock it.

If you’re worried you can get an Robert Axle Project TA that is broached for m5 rack mounts, and swap out the seatpost collar for one with rack mounts and then you can run any rack that is tall enough. Or you can run the Ortleib Quick Rack that mounts to the frame, or wait for the newer version that is coming out in 2025 that has axle mounts.

You could also spend a few more bucks and get an Old Man Mountain set up, or for like 4x the money of an Ortlieb get a Tailfin.
