We managed to get almost everything second-hand/repurposed and kept the price of the components super low which was awesome! I really like it, it's my first proper bike (@ age 24), but now I'm really anxious about it getting stolen, or having bits of it stolen. I bought a chain lock, but I'm still worried 👉👈😟 Any tips on how to responsibly lock up a bike?

Very nice and practical build. Locking and securing a bicycle…using a good quality U-lock in combination with a coiled cable (with hoops on each end) has been common for securing wheels to the frame and attaching the frame to an immovable object. Quick releases for seats and wheels can be replaced with non-quick release options, as once a seat height is set it doesn’t need to be readjusted, and wheels generally don’t need to be removed. Another philosophy around parking a bicycle is to park it amongst better looking / newer bicycles, so yours will be less appealing. On a separate note, the black tape used for your hand grips looks perfectly installed – but the durability of the tape will be revealed when the adhesive and black dye begins to transfer to your hands. Some thin wall grips are recommended.
