Only the UK has the rear break on the left, so it came standard. I have the L20 and prefer the break and throttle in the same hand. I have so far snapped the seat post and the front break cable outer sleeve is too short so I can either have zero front break or if it works via the lever it also comes on when I turn right!

Sadly, I am the aforementioned hobbit so probably not doable and it’s also only about 5kg lighter than me.
The designs interesting as like you say it’s definitely having a bit of an identity crisis possible from the 70s, reminded me of Yamaha’s prototype Moegi that tragically never went into production (would have done 220mpg!) which was a motor bike that was going the other way and looking half like a bike it was so streamlined, very 50s futuristic too.

Not a quality contol issue, American bikes have the brakes reversed from us. Very confusing and potentially dangerous for us Brits.
It's not really big enough for you. Engwe worst company on the planet. They have had some bad press. They use extremely cheap components to cut corners and the welds on all there bikes are terrible and will eventually crack and chuck you off. Anyone buying these should seriously check them over thoughly. Batteries set on fire too. Cheap componants means death trap.
Is this the 52v version 2.0?
Get some motorbike tires on it first of all. I would change the rear motor because they have nylon gears in those planetary hub motors very unreliable. Hydraulic disc brakes. Is a must on an electric bike. Seems to be a good frame for if you want to build your own customised bike.

The reversed brakes are common, thats the setup for most of the EU. My 2 Fiidos arrived that way and the Trek I bought in store did too (in Ireland)
How tf did he make the bike go 35 mph when I see them going 29 max
Outside of the UK, usually on a bicycle the lever activates the front brake 😉
