Fixing it would require ruining the paint. Take a mechanically sound frame to a local car painter and they can make you something way cooler that won’t kill you on a decent pothole

  2. if you want a broken frame while pedalling, keep on using it. Look at my post lmao, that shit will snap into two.

  3. steel is meant to bend and not suddenly compromise, so that’s actually a good thing . Did you get into an accident or just buy it like that or what ? ( edit , I actually just read the post lol . You got a steal for 50$ )

Either way , I’m a millwright and weld and fab stuff out of steel daily , unless you plan on dropping to flat down stair sets you’re gonna be fine just riding normally . Would I keep riding it for 7 years ? No , but you can definitely ride it still . A cracked weld would be a way bigger concern .

Looking at it again , considering there’s no damage on the head tube by the looks of it , seems like it could have just been rocked real good from a pothole while on the clamp of a bike rack and the tube bent from the middle and up instead of being hit head on and compressed .

Damn that is a beautiful color but yea: frame is **done**. You could probably get $50 for the front wheel though. So at least get your money back there?

The duality of r/fixedgear: “guys is this worth it? I just learned how to ride a bike yesterday and I need a reliable commuter” (posts 2000$ track bike off fbm)

“Dang I fucked up” (>50$ worth of awesome components with a toasted frame)

Nah I woulda still taken this deal OP shame about the frame though

  6. Did you buy it complete? If so, I’d say you got a great deal on a solid wheel set and the rest of the components. I have one of those control tech stems, I love it. But I definitely wouldn’t trust that frame 😬

  7. Donezo. Any expense to make it right, would probably have you near or at what a new frame would be.

Most of all, glad you are safe and sound! That’s what matters.
