Is it about time I replace my tires on my mountain bike? And which tire combo do you recommend for cross country riding that gives me grip and speed around corners and speed on long straights?
First two photos are front tire and last two photos are rear tire.

    1. I say, depending on the tire tread type (aggressive vs cross country) and your performance goals, you can run them until they are bald, assuming they still hold air.

To me the less knobs the faster the tire. If you want more grip I would say:

For the tire in the first picture: You would experience gains from replacing it but it by no means is garbage yet.

The tire in the second pic: Looks like it’s about time to change, but again, it is turning into a great semi slick tire now. Will not be great for braking in a straight line anymore, but still has side knobs so will hook up in corners.

Just depends on your goals… fast rolling vs. grip.
