In this issue of the Weimar Wire, we dive deep into the critical events of January 1930. Political violence in the streets, uncertainty over the nation’s very character and Nazis entering a governing coalition provide a veritable treasure trove of political intrigue, hidden aspirations, and grand schemes.

  1. Hey, I’m Sebastian, this series’ writer and researcher. I spent many hours sitting over real and scanned German Newspapers covering January 1930, and I can tell you it was a blast! I’m here for any questions you guys might have regarding research or writing!

  2. You know, the title is especially funny if you consider that just last week the fascistoid AfD gained 1/3 of the votes in Thüringen. The Neo-Nazis are gaining ground in a similar fashion they did last time

  3. Coincidence that you make a video about thuringia and the nazis shortly after the elections in that state? I think not. Very dissapionted… Expected more of historians like you. Comparing Nazism with our current situation is wrong and very dangerous.

  4. Imagine these guys talking about the beginning of the war period and also using the bomb fall effects like it would be fun. Imagen they are reporting in their underground news studio and bomb raids making the camera shake effects and the dust falling etc. Would be cool

  5. I've re watched this a couple of times and it was an amazing Video. I have been a follower of World war 2 since the start and I was 6 years old. Now I am 13 and have learned very viable and important information about World war 2 overall and I do know a lot about Hitler's Rise of Power I am interested on how World War Two would cover it and be able to learn more information that I did not learn.

  6. Indy Neidell and Spartacus Olsson — Hellish of an Interesting HISTORICAL event in the European U2 have made here — one problem here – when you depicted the Newspaper, it was turned — though I've had a tough time reading this old German Prints, it was (is) impossible with the Sides turned around —😎🤓🥸

  7. For a political nerd like me, this is absolute manna from heaven. Politics doesn't happen "big" it happens small – tiny incidents, compromises & breakthroughs only become big for retrospective historians later. Doing this with a focus on the media people were reading & seeing that generally guides folks' opinion of what "was" happening is brilliant.

  8. Please, can you title the videos by the month and year? I didn't know this was going to be chronological, which makes me want to watch it a lot more

  9. So happy to be an enthusiastic audience member for this new series. I forwarded the series link to our American 18-year-old who is just starting his year-long youth ambassador program in a Brandenburg gymnasium. This history is so important for everyone in democratic societies to learn and review. Thank you.

  10. Can you PLEASE supply Indy and Sparty intonations/impressions of different parties with their colors? It's hard to guess anyone except for the communists and n*zis
