And I tried to make it better each year but it’s just inherently flawed in trying to represent the entire bike just within the MSRP price and a few part specs. Ultimately, the idea was to show ‘industry trends’ in value, mostly to see where brands cut corners.
And it’s a nice little crash course for people who are just brand new and don’t know the reputation of brands of individual parts yet, but I also worry i can be misleading especially over time. As the value of those parts kinda changes and industry pricing changes etc. And I find people end up finding the OLD spread sheets before finding the newer ones. Which also becomes a problem.
For this last one, didn’t want to spend much time on it. My only idea was like… Whether you have 300 or 3500 dollars, this is hwo you can maximize your value (and of course nearly HALF of these are on sale so the value is even better).
Again, I don’t think it’s the best resource and we probably have better ones now, such as 219’s post. I also wrote out a written guide as well as did a short form youtube video that more or less goes over what you see above.
All in all, just want to say thanks to everyone who likes to talk bikes with me and likes to dive deep into analysis paralysis and overthink things. It’s been fun and I hope to continue to answer questions but probably done with community resources after the written guide, spreadsheet, and YT video.
