This time on the Fozcast, we talk about things that you didn’t know about football! We are joined by former Barnsley GK and England GK coach, Dave Watson as he gives us his perspective from a coach. In this clip, the lads are talking about shirts and in particular swapping shirts after a game. How much does this cost players over the period of their whole career?

  1. Never even thought about players having to pay money when they shirt swap. Cool behind the scenes info there. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Guess it makes sense, these kits are so expensive nowadays (the actual official match kit). If the players are giving them away every match, makes sense they'd be the ones paying for them.

  3. Every Shirt Manufacturer has this in there contract with the club.
It's to stop free kit being handed out by staff because the kit isn't worn again after that game.

It's rarely enforced, by the club or shirt manufacturer.

Once the kit has been worn the kit is washed and not used again players get new socks, new shorts, new team shirt.

  4. Since you disabled the comments on this episode on Spotify I'm commenting here.

This episode was a disappointment. You covered so few questions, spent so much time on some side stories that didn't really relate to questions and ultimately weren't that interesting and/or you've talked about before. At least for us who've listened to every single episode.

Long time listener and will continue, but someone has to take charge and move on when you've talked about something before or you've been talking about something for way too long.

    Best regards

  5. Hence why most people now buy snide shirts for £20-£25 a time. Outrageous how they think in this society that people can afford those stupid prices for something that once cost £20-£30 that you spend your birthday money on. The snides are pretty good quality to be fair! Save your money nobody can tell.

  6. how much do you reckon a player in the Premier League could sell his shirt for if they left it unwashed and signed it? would you pay a premium for a MOTM performance, or a wonder goal?
I know a lot of players already do a lot for charity – but something this simple could raise millions all in all for good causes

  7. Gets worse – is that deducted from gross salary before tax (assume you can't) because if it isn't then at that lovely marginal 45% that's actually a 200 quid odd shirt.
