Basel – The day’s victories in the penultimate races of the 30th CIC ON Swiss Bike Cup went to Alessandra Keller (Thömus Maxon) and New Zealander Anton Cooper in Basel. Another good news from the Swiss ranks: Filippo Colombo (Scott-Sram MTB Racing) made a great comeback in 2nd place after an almost five-month injury break.

A week after the World Championships in Glasgow, some riders from Switzerland and abroad took advantage of the races on the Schänzli, which were integrated into the 27th Bikefestival Basel, to preserve their top form. And so the races at the CIC ON Swiss Bike Cup in Basel adapted to the outside temperatures: It was hot to and fro.

Keller and Neff – a hot duel

The world championship contenders Alessandra Keller and Jolanda Neff from Team Trek FactoryRacing XC also made for a thrilling duel at the front, with both actively leading the way in a real heat battle and even talking to each other during the race.

Jolanda Neff, the Olympic champion from Tokyo 2021, who is still searching for her top form this season, once again showed an increase in performance with her active race design.

But on the last lap of the notorious, very steep climb, Alessandra Keller showed why she has been racing at a consistently high level all season: Neff, who had won on the Schänzli in 2019, still tried to make up ground in the downhill, but produced a “slide” with the rear wheel.

As a result, Alessandra Keller, overall World Cup winner and World Championship fifth and sixth (short track), crossed the finish line once again without any danger, ahead of Jolanda Neff and Linda Indergand (Liv Factory Racing), the relay world champion from Glasgow.

Local hero Seraina Leugger (BiXS-PerformanceRace Team) from Arlesheim finished seventh after overcoming illness.
