After leaving an aire we needed to find a campsite for a few days, and we lucked out stumbling upon a 5 star gem just outside the amazing city of Nantes.

Having not stayed on a campsite badged as 5 stars before, we first setup our vans outdoor space and then explore some of the facilities before taking full advantage of the location. We were lucky enough to have 3 nights here, and two full days to explore the best things to do in Nantes France.

On our first full day we hopped on the bus and saw so much; honestly we reckon you could spend a week here and still have sites to see. It’s a great city, and probably our most favourite modern city we’ve visited in the bus to date.

We opted for the Nantes passes for 48 hours which allows you all sorts of things within in the price. We used it to travel in and all the other sites you see in the vlog, so definitely got our moneys worth out of it. It was €99 for all 3 of us – the boat ride alone would have been £27, bus passes for each day around €12, chateau entry, visit to the Les Machines de l’Île and merry go-round etc etc – so would recommend considering those.

The campsite – Nantes Camping

First off, yes it’s just called Nantes Camping. When we first arrived we were surprised, and initially a bit miffed, to find there is a camping car park literally next door to this. But once we were welcomed in and setup soon realised we made a great decision to base ourselves here for a few days. The shower blocks, campsite, restaurant, shop, reception, kids club, pool etc etc are all spotless and fresh. You can make use of outdoor exercise equipment, their sizeable pool and daily entertainment for free. And the welcome we received was amazing – which amazed us as we can be sheepish turning up to a campsite in our old bus at the best of times.

Location wise we were pleased to find a local Spa right next door that even had fresh milk. Opposite that is the tram stop and bus stop. Or if you’d prefer there is a cycle route that runs right into the heart of Nantes – and they do seem to like their cycle paths here.

Location: NANTES CAMPING, 21 BOULEVARD DU PETIT PORT, 44 300 NANTES

What we paid: £51 per night – so the priciest pitch to date in France, but we felt it was worth it for the experience we got.

Obviously the crazy golf was rigged, but apart from that we really rated the campsite – rarely do we share so much detail especially after paying so much. But it was such a good stay.

  3. We have used the campingcar there its very cheap, this year we went to carnac free parking not at all glam though. And it rained so it felt just like cornwall. Could find any space in camping cars anywhere on the coast or campsites. Loads of traffic in brittany. Mont saint michel was amazing though reasonably priced really nice camping car park and free bus to the mount. Ice cream reasonably priced and so beautiful to see the tide coming in although no causway they have a bridge. Lots of free stuff to do walking up and around and really beautiful spot. Camping car approx €20

  4. Hi guys. Loved your video but we always have trouble hearing Kelly. Is it because she talks very quietly or is she not miked up?

  7. Just watched, and I love to see that you're being completely normal and not putting anything on for show like some youtubers do. It's so interesting to see all these places you visit. If only i could convince Simon to drive in Europe! (He refuses sadly 😢) Maybe you could tell him how easy it is? 😂 Anyway, looking forward to the next video and hoping that one day my videos will come out as good as yours! X

  8. Thanks for sharing your travels. I’ve travelled the length and breadth of France camping with my children when they were younger. It’s a huge, interesting, and varied country with so much to offer, and caters so well for campers/campervans. I’m looking forward to doing it again in a Campervan with my adult children (who have so many happy memories of France), and grandchild. I appreciate your relaxed way of showing us around and informal way of providing useful information. Wishing you all the best with your travels, and your channel.
