A resounding victory for Primož Roglič. Ben O'Connor is the animator of the Vuelta, what would have happened if Felix Gall had not "disappeared" the last week? Although the statistics affirm that the best team is UAE, it is very little for their expectations. And the fight for the mountains between teammates, entertaining but embarrassing. The best teams were Kern Pharma and Ag2R Decathlon who had not defended a podium since 2016 with Romain Bardet.

CONGRATS Primos – you somehow stayed off the tarmac the entire race ( has it ever happened before ? – I was taking over/unders at the start ) and won the GREATEST Grand Tour of the Year – yes better than il Giro and TdF – it was a spectacular parcours this year – the racing was scintillating start to finish – lots of uncertainty on who would prevail – admit I was nervous for you when Big Ben got that HUGE lead – it was a royal battle right to the end – Pro teams spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in the wind tunnel and aero equipment – you watch a guy like Ben OCoonor with his aero helmet – EVERYTIME he looks DOWN rather than straight forward he not only loses his aero tuck he creates HUGE drag when that BEAK goes vertical into the air – in short – unless the rider has the discipline to hold his aero tuck – everything is wasted and you would be better off WITHOUT any aero than with it acting as a DRAG device – most riders cannot hold the tuck … I would MUCH prefer the time trial to be ridden on ROAD BIKES with NO aero equipment

Huge GC performance for Ben O'Connor, its a shame he couldnt hold on to the red for the entire race, but it takes nothing away from his top class riding. He made this Vuelta one to watch, and fought brilliantly up until the very last meter. Chapeau Ben! Congrats to Roglic as well, battling hard despite some team mishaps and ultimately able to comfortably take the overall.

The organisers did a fantastic job picking the parcours for the race. Every stage had something. Best gt of the year. Seriously who wants to watch a guy dominate by 10 minutes to injured opponents. Now that jonas has put his priorities into his family after the crash it may be this way for a few years. Plus visma clearly aren't the team they were 1 year ago
