I got my second bike, my dream dirt jumper, a 2006 NS bitch. On the 2 weeks I had it I have mostly been doing urban freeride. I have got a rockrider helmet and have been looking for full face helmets since I wasn't really feeling protected.

My budget is quite low: 100-160€. I've been looking for full faces on my local stores and mainly found bell helmets.

My main concern about getting a full face helmet is it being overkill or a waste of money for how I would use it. I also normally do 5-10 kilometres on an average day and don't know if it would give me issues for riding those kind of distances wearing the helmet.

Would appreciate getting recommendations on either full or open helmets.

    1. Your classic skate bucket is fine for a helmet. Totally is personal preference though. I would save up more money and not get either of those helmets you’ve shared photos of though. Those are pretty junky

I personally think Full Face helms are best for free riding / mountain biking, but for normal use (city or roads) I recommend normal helms (but you’re into free riding so I’d say get a full face)

    3. I’d get a proper MTB helmet with MIPS. Fox, Troy Lee, Specialized and many more have models with MIPS in your price range. Basically you’ll get better protection against concussions if you spend the same amount, but don’t go for a full face.
