Thinking go through the drivetrain, clean/scrub/re-grease everything, recable everything, 26×2.3 Conti Race Kings (clearance for this?), new chain/pedals and seat.
Considering BMX riser bars and maybe a rigid fork? The RST on there is cool but looks fairly beat.
Thoughts/suggestions?

I just refurbished one of these for a 12 year old a couple of months ago. I replaced all of the cables and chain, cleaned the freehub, and cleaned and regreased all of the bearings. If it were for me, I’d have swapped in a rigid fork, new saddle, and a swept back bar.

From this picture it looks like a good once over is all it ‘needs’.
The opportunities are endless.

Get rid of that horrible seat cover….my eyes!

Might need a new fork. Those seals tend to fail over time.

I’m not familiar with the GT brand as they are an American brand. It seems to be very popular with xbikers. They’re considered good bikes, I assume?

Wish we had that kind of trash in Germany.

I’d go lighter weight for more town friendly cruising. Switch to a rigid fork, go 1x, swap for less knobby tires.
Put some semi slicks on Change to a rigid fork Deep clean, degrease, new cables and chain. Maybe a bmx handlebar with new grips and a new seat. Perfect for riding around town

Check to see if it is stolen. That seat says casual commuter.

Maybe swap grips and seat. Otherwise service the rest and see where it’s at. I’d do that before any sort of major overhaul.
