I just saw a new 2024 Cube Stereo ONE44 C:62 for 2200 EUR (2400 USD), 12.8kg/28lbs and for the intended use of Alp-cross (up to 1000 m/3000ft elevation gain daily, light weight, comfort, efficiency) I cannot find a similar/similarly specced bike in this price range, nothing really comes close. I also tried searching for info on this particular model, but as the Cube brand is basically only brick and mortar stores in Germany, not too much info.

Maybe someone could look up the specs and tell me if there are obvious downsides compared to a more expensive XC bike for 3000 EUR, that would also weigh similarly? As far as I understand, this deal (capable trail bike with modern geometry, good components, 28lbs/12.8kg for 2200 EUR) is unbeatable??

Specs:

  • 28 lbs at 140/140 travel, 180/180 brakes, 29 inch wheels, modern trail geometry, carbon frame, UDH, downtube storage

  • RockShox Pike RC 140 mm fork

  • RockShox Deluxe Select+ shock with 140 mm travel

  • SRAM GX drivetrain

  • Magura MT Thirty brakes, 180 mm front and rear, hydraulic

  • Red Metal 500 Rims, 1,9kg/4.2lbs

  • Maxxis Forekaster 2.35 tires (that's one part of the bike that I would like to experiment on, so probably not that important, frame is cleared for 2.5 inch tire width)

  • 150 mm dropper post at size Medium

Any weak points? Even the entry level front and rear suspension looks very good for me…

What is really strange, I cannot find a comparable bike at similar price/weight/spec, even with less travel (for my needs even an XC with 100-120 mm travel would suffice, although it would trade the comfort for efficiency, if I understand correctly). Everything I can find is either way pricier, without stuff like dropper post, with much worse suspension etc.

Any input about this bike would be very appreciated. From the limited reviews it looks like a really good pick, especially for the price.

  1. Cube offers really good value and the commuter type bikes are super popular as you know. As I understand they do not send out bikes for review, so it’s hard to get info / find opinions on their better road bikes and MTBs.

The folks I know who have Cube road bikes are pretty happy with them, though the one I tried felt a bit rattley and was not a good fit. I don’t know anyone with a Cube MTB sorry.

I agree on paper it looks great. The quality is probably fine, but I’d look hard for any reviews of this or similar models.

I think it looks solid. Cube is a huge brand in Europe. It’s bit ”soulless” in my opinion like giant, trek, canyon etc. The geometry looks pretty standard. I think if you want a trail bike on a budget then it is not a bad choice at all.

  3. You might want to check max system weight, as Cube bikes seem to be 5-10kg under the standard permissible limit. When I was looking at Cube I was quite surprised that their enduro bikes were spec up to 115kg.
