So I've switched to Schwalbe's cheapo bikepark casing tires a year and a half ago and I'm completley blown away. These tires cost less than 25€ and offer so much performance.
The durability is insane. The rear tire in the picture has been through 6 months of hell, riding park twice per week + additional big mountain tours. (The Softs that I had before lost their side knobs after 3 months of riding)
Softer rubbers may have more traction in the wet, but after they get chewn up they start to slip like crazy. These harder Addix compound tires stay fresh and consitently grippy.
The damping is a lot better with the stiffer casing and offers enough support to rip through turns at low psi. At high speeds this casing will feel very good, but for slower sections it can be a little rough on your hands.
And the rolling is exceptional. I'm consistently doing better times on descents because for the little grip you sacrifice, you get so much better rolling.
Needless to say, these tires are indestructable. I've broken rims and but same tire back without any issue. Probably on par with other DH casings. Tubless works seamlessly, just put these on and pump them up.
Obviously, the extra 200-300g in weight will have an effect on climbing, but if you don't mind a 2 minute time penalty, I cannot recommend these tires enough.
Overall I'd say that when it comes to durability, rolling speed and damping, these tires are unbeatable.
