After visiting Machu Picchu we returned to Margot and Franco, our friends in Urubamba, where we spent another night, and the next day we set off on our bikes towards Abancay. Unfortunately, getting back on the road only increased our frustration and stress levels due to our already frayed nerves. Since entering Peru cycling was very difficult for us mentally and emotionally. We reached a point where we felt disappointed, resigned, our spirits were low and for the first time in our journey we considered abandoning our adventure and flying back to Europe. Every day of cycling was dangerous for us. We were often exposed to accidents due to the total ignorance and disrespect of drivers. There are no road rules in Peru at all, and if there are, no one really respects them.
