According to the Crow Design Manual for Bicycle Traffic, cycle paths should have an even surface, adequate drainage, and adequate foundations to cope with tree roots, animal burrows and attendant unevenness (pages 168-179). A failure to provide these can result in cyclists being brought off their bikes.

Sadly this cycle path has a tendency to flood, suffers from subsidence and is inherently uneven. It has cracks, ruts and a corrugated surface throughout.

Half way down there is serious subsidence where council vehicles crossed it in order to construct a new bandstand.

It is a thoroughly uncomfortable ride.
