I recently decided to get into cycling, and doing a bit of research led me to purchase a pair of assos shorts as it should be top quality.

Unfortunately, I quickly realised these probably don’t fit me at all? The shorts run down to just above my knees, but on the backside they are landing where my legs bend which I imagine isn’t ideal.

    Extra info:
I’m 168cm tall, and while it may not look like it in the picture have pretty muscular thighs. The bibs are a size S.

Is this an instant return? Are there any other brands I should be looking at? 🥲

the black bibs makes some with shorter inseam I think. how are the straps on your shoulder?

    2. Assos have pretty short legs unless you got the long leg version accidentally. You might want to try XS and you should definitely go for bibs

    3. Pedal Mafia pro delta fits me perfectly. I’m 167. Maybe I’m tripping but have you tried pulling them up more?

      ASSOS mate!

I’m 174cm and they fit me perfectly.

I also had a length problem with Rapha.

    5. Did you use the size calculator on Assos? You may need an XS. They look a little baggy around the seat and I see some fabric bunching up on the thighs. Like others mentioned, you may not have them pulled up high enough. These are supposed to be tight on you and high on the waist near or above the belly button.

People are also recommending bibs, which i do prefer on all rides, but I think its okay to start with regular shorts.

    6. I’m pretty short and bibs are almost always still too short length wise for my taste. I’ll bet if you really hoist that thing up on your thighs where it needs to be for the pad to be tight against your taint you’ll have everything right where you’d want it to be.

    7. I’m 5’8”. My favorite bibs are the Giordana lungo shorter length and the giordana FRC pro shorter length.

    8. Update: thank you everyone who commented and helped! I learnt these are not bibs because they don’t have the straps, and I also learnt they need to be pulled up much harder which I did now and think they are a much better fit!

Now I just need to figure out if I should return them for proper bibs instead.

    9. Be worth double checking the shorts you got from Assos. They do a long thigh version and a short (normal) length one. These look like the long ones…

    10. I’m 165cm, 54kg. I have had good luck with these bibs;

      •Louis Garneau, size XS.

      •De Marchi, size XS.

      •DareVie, Size Small

      •YKYW, size XS.

The value/quality of the Darevie and YKYW bibs are absolutely outstanding considering the price. (I could literally buy a a dozen of either of these bibs for the retail price of my Louis Garneu or 6 pairs of them for the retail price of my DeMarchi bibs. Even id gotten the highest end bibs from Darevie or YKYW they’d have been $75 tops.

Got my Darevie bibs for $21 on a sale and my YKYW for $23. (Both *regularly* $55, but rarely ever actually that price on AliEx) They absolutely blow the DeMarchi bibs out of the water and fit better than the Louis Garneau (which, although the chamois is fantastic, it seems like maybe the bibs are built for someone quite a bit taller or built differently than myself as the pad rides way up high towards my backside)

The LGs have the longest legs. All the others are a tad shorter, none are anywhere near my knees once I’m riding.

You might try http://www.sportpursuit.com (long waits, but cheap prices) or http://www.bikecloset.com (short wait, but not much selection) for clearance bibs to ease the pain of finding just the right thing.

Hike up the shorts as much as you can, ie the padding should be “right up there”, and then pull up the legs a bit. You may get some fabrics bunching a bit around your thighs but that is ok
