In this Wednesday episode, Patrick and Stuart need to make repairs to the flashing around the chateau dormer windows to stop further water damage. They also prepare a large area in the potager (kitchen garden) for next year, and meet up with Tony and Jane to visit a local brocante.

    1. Patrick, props for all the roof work. I for one hate ladder heights. Stuart and Patrick, you always seem to have a good outing with Tony and Jane. Even if you don't find any treasures, you'll still have great comradery for the day. 🫂

    2. Just in case, for those who wonder what Stuart does, I think that one of Stuart's many jobs, although a hidden one, is to be a spotter when Patrick is on a ladder or scaffolding. It's an important job and I'm glad that he does it. Chateau today, gymnastics competitions tomorrow? On September 21, Patrick can toss leaves from the gutter to welcome autumn. LOL. I love the blue shirts, especially Patrick's. I love me a good print, and the way that y'all coordinate your clothing and set up a different background for us are some of the many seemingly small details that require thought, care, and thus time and work.

    3. Patrick, I appreciate that you have to improvise when you don't have the correct tools and you did a great job. One thing I would suggest, is a pair of gloves to protect both your hands and your wedding ring. I'm sure there must be some sturdy ones out there that are also close fitting to give you a good grip.

    4. Hi Stuart and Patrick. I can’t begin to explain how terrified I get seeing you that high up on a ladder, Patrick. And filming while you were fixing things! I know these things must be done but do they make scaffolding that goes up that high? Maybe something that can attach to windows perhaps? I sound like an old biddy but oh my nerves😓

    5. Patrick, I held my breath the entire time you were up on that ladder!!! Having to hate heights, I marvel at you being able to do that. You 2 always have a smile on your faces no matter what the task is at hand. HUGS

    6. Patrick, I was so worried with you up on the ladder. I have a fear of heights. When I was young, I worked with a roofing company. I had no fear then. Now my legs start shaking, and so do my hands. I had a neighbor that always did my gutters, but he passed away last Xmas. Thankfully, my other neighbor cleaned my gutters. I didn't ask them to, but I am so grateful. I considered leaf guards, but my neighbors discouraged me. They said the leaves still get in, causing blockage.
That veggie plot is a nice size. Great sunlight as well.
The vases and tray are lovely. That mirror will be beautiful when repaired. I love that it has a stand built in.
      Best wishes to you both.❤

    7. Great job on the gutters and flashing – the sound of the fountain and birds made a great soundtrack. You are very brave to climb so high!
I’m working on prep stuff too. Here’s hoping that the weather will cooperate next year. We had too much rain too, so my next door neighbors with many raised beds hardly have anything this year.
I’m glad you found items at the bait-and-switch brocant – wow, an amazing price for the mirror!

    8. 🙁Patrick, i have a concern for your safety when you are up so high, you can get ladder hooks that anchor the ladder to the gutter, it would stop a nasty fall, just a thought, by the way i love what both of you are doing, take care.

    9. You should check on YouTube for guys that clean the stuff off of the roofing tiles and see about a conglaberation with them. You get your roof cleaned, and they get a free stay at your chateau. There are several to choose from in England

    10. Good grief, Patrick! You were in the nosebleed section! Your talents are unmatched! I love shopping with you guys! We have nothing in California that comes close to comparing! Thanks for taking us along!❤❤Love you guys!❤❤

    11. Patrick & Stuart by chance do they have Leaf Filter for gutters in France like we have in the States? Could that be put on your gutters? Or due to the design not possible?

    12. Patrick, I don't envy your DIY tasks. All those crazy chores are done on the top of a ladder, too.
The vases are lovely. The frame is a good buy for €10.
It's good to see Tony and Jane.
      ❤ from TX!

    13. Aloha, great job way up there. The tray is stunning. Once the mirror is put in and repaird by such skilled hands, will be a conversation piece. Love it🪞🏰.

    14. I hold my breath every time you are on that tall ladder, Patrick!
You did an amazing job repairing those gutters.
Stuart, you were right there recording it all so diligently.
Love brocante shopping with you two. ❤❤

    15. I’m not afraid of heights but darn it, Patrick, that freaked me out a bit! And you carry on like you’re just standing on the ground. That was a bit of a you know what clencher. 😅 Great vlog, as always.

    16. Patrick please take care while using the ladder it worries me to see you going so high, cherry picker would be so helpful in this situation but I know they are expensive 😊
