In June 1940, as France collapsed and prepared to live under German rule, the underworld chose its camp. Thus, Henri Chamberlin, known as “Henri Lafont”, was one of the first French people to offer his services to the Germans. Quickly promoted to head of a police department located at 93, rue Lauriston, Lafont gathered around him a team of professional criminals. Soon joined by corrupt police officers, these thugs will take advantage of their situation to harass the Jews, pillage the country and torture the Resistance. A look back at the abuses of these opportunists, as well as their involvement in the German repressive machine.

    1. In Poland German Gestapo was under surveillance of Polish Underground State. Death sentences on Gestapo officers – henchmen were performed by AK commandos. AK attacked even headquarters of Gestapo in occupied Warsaw and also killed SS and Gestapo chief General Kutschera…in front of headquarters, in a bloody machine gun battle in 1943.
