France. Lately all we’ve heard is doom and gloom, how the France of memory of disappearing. Well, the problem is most people just go to Paris when they visit France, and Paris…has a few issues. If you really wanna see France, you’ve gotta get out into the country.
The country is overflowing with historical places to explore. We’re talking World War 2 and the beaches of Normandy. The Hundred Years War and Joan of Arc in Rouen. The Battle of Tours/Poitiers, one of Europe’s most legendary battles.
There are languages you’ve probably never heard of, like Breton, spoken in the Brittany region. And finally, if you go deep enough, you may even stumble upon France’s Brest, on the far western tip.
This was a journey. Strap in, and ON Y VA!

This is almost like 3 videos in 1. It has everything, even Brest.
Lunch at 3pm!!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Lucky you got a coffee!!
Come to Niagara Falls Canada sometime Tommy. Lots of history here, would make an awesome series.
That numberplate was a UK mainland plate. Jersey plates are just a string of 1 to 5 numbers and Guernsey plates are the same but with a G prefix.
24 not 28 *
Tommy you are more irish than the irish themselves. Seeking Breton cousins……something many irish have also done. I met some bretons who were astonished when they did the dna test. At least as irish as a linguist from Long Island, NY.
At 39:18 the construction material in wall behind the narrator looks like Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, FL.
The architectural style you're describing as "Celtic" emerged about a millennia after any connection between ancient Celtic peoples dissipated. Completely imaginary connection.
you should go to "le kerhinet"
really good content and of much interest, perhaps a series "Lost langauges of Europe"
I did not think you would ever visit my city (Rouen), that was so great!
I really felt Breast
Indeed, a little stereotypical bigotry will help with the sound of any accent!
US Navy in the '80s. We visited Brest. My ship was used for delivering ordnance. I bet we delivered to that sub base.
And now, many years later, the Muslims are re-invading France (and Europe, in general) in droves. We should wake up before it's too late.
The Bretton language is related to Cornish because Britons from Devon and Cornwall in England emigrated to Brittany and parts of Normandy.
The Normans and their descendants eventually controlled about half of France not just Normandy, learn more about the Norman invasion of England, the Norman in Ireland including the lordship of Ireland and the Angevin Empire which included parts of France, Great Britain and Ireland so you don't mislead people with what you said about the Channel Islands and why they are British.
The English dropped the hammer in Scotland…lol James VI of Scotland from the house of Stuart inherited the English crown and became James I of England as well with the union of crowns in 1603. it was James I and the other Stuart monarchs who pushed for a political union between the Kingdoms of Scotland and England, it finally happened in 1707 under Queen Anne from the house of Stuart and the 2 kingdoms became the Kingdom of Great Britain. Most of the fighting during this time was between the Scottish and English was over religion because the Church of Scotland was Calvinist and viewed many Church of England practices as little better than Catholicism, there was also civil wars between the Crown and Parliament. Stop getting your education from Braveheart…lol
I feel sorry for the English because in most of your videos you blame them for a lot of things the actual English people are not responsible for, they were just the Normans serfs and since they were conquered by the Normans they have been ruled over by Monarchs who' were born in or origins are from other nations, most of the people the Monarchs married were not even born in England. For example how you blame them, Henry II of England claimed Ireland but he was also the Duchy of Normandy before he was king of England, he was born in France, mainly lived in and ruled from France, died and buried in France but you blame the English, why?
I live in brittany near sarzeau, i can put you in touch with breton speaking bretons
how do you claim long island but never seen a dude smoking a cig on a bike
7:19 I stayed with a friend who lives in southwestern Germany on French Swiss border. Those streets are so small and people panic when cars get too close here in the states 😂… if you can’t parallel park you have no business driving in Europe period
the ascetic of thumbnail is so fire! i want a cute french girl from the country side lol 7:01 dude i havent been in new cars in awhile. i actually like a monitor and some stuff but like 2010 era before it was completely engulfed in every aspect of the car and 100% tracked sending out telemetry pings but what a monstrosity that dashboard is my God makes me really appreciate my old f150 even more
The earth is truly flat
Excelllent video Tommy ! Many thanks !
Helmet is hilarious!!! great video
English:
What’s the deal with trying to embarrass France? What you’re showing is far from the major cities, and it’s the same for all big countries. It proves nothing! When you’re off to the US, your own country, you could also show off some pretty dodgy places. Your French is proper rubbish!
That French guy with a beret and a baguette, did he also have striped Shirt?
La route des châteaux
Magnifique vidéo !
As we say in France.
Thanks for visiting my beautiful country, and I hope you had an amazing time!! 🇫🇷
Legend
As a Welshman that flag was pretty sick to see in France
Techno wave, Tommy? I took you for more of a blues man. 😎
Only thing I can say is ANTFIA are a bunch of lowlifes lol. Been dealing with them in Portland, Oregon for years!

Still a bit of the Celtic humour floating around in those genes. 😂
8:45 – French tacos are the scariest things I could think of as a Mexican.

Nice Brest
Goto Jersey, Channel Islands…it’s awesome!
Hi, plzzz go back to Argentina……………….
I don’t give a pigeon shit 😂
Watching you chomping into that ice cream made my sensitive teeth hurt 😂
“That Cornish area of England, I don’t know what it’s called…” it’s Cornwall, you should go there too, they consider themselves their own country.
Your videos entertain and enlightened me today. I had no idea the Celtic language was spoken in France. Thank you my friend
31:22 i bloody hope not ;P scwary!
How many deaths are attributed to the mining of lithium and other metals for the advent of EVs? Not only with particulate matter and CO2 from diesel, but the dangerous occupation it involves Alot more than most would want to admit
Definitely would like to see more of you exploring France. Really enjoyed the video <3
The reason why the Bretons spoke Celtic for so long is that they descend from Celtic Britons who migrated over during the Anglo-Saxon invasions. Funnily enough they displaced the local continental Celtic language and culture that was native to the area.
I love getting my mind right and watching your videos, I'm a history nerd myself.
As someone who only speaks four languages I have to ask..
How many do you speak?
Keep up the amazing work, interesting places you're going.
Nice to see in a f*cked up world. 👍
Peace be above you, always.
If that "UK" number plate was either all numbers, or all numbers prefixed with a J, then it would have been from the Channel Islands. Guernsey's number plates are all numbers, those prefixed with a J are from Jersey. Although technically, the Channel Islands are not part of the UK.
I like how regardless of what language Sabbatical is speaking…French, Swahili, Mandarin…his response is always the same: "ahh, ok." 😂
