Hello! I'm travelling over to Europe for work and will take a week or so off to do a relaxed cycle tour (~50-70km/day, preferably mostly off road, and staying at hotels).
So far I've narrowed it down to:
- Porto to Coimbra in Portugal: https://www.macsadventure.com/holiday-1718/cycling-portugals-atlantic-coast/
- The Via Rhona, from Seyssel to Lyon in France: https://www.french-biketours.com/holiday-tour/via-rhona-from-seyssel-to-lyon
- Canal de la Garonne from Bordeaux to Toulouse in France: https://www.french-biketours.com/holiday-tour/cycling-canal-de-la-garonne-bordeaux-toulouse
But I'm open to any other ideas or suggestions!
Both of the French trips look more scenic to me than the Portugal one, but I'm a little worried that the weather will make the trip not so enjoyable in October. The Via Rhona looks incredible but it looking at historical data it seems I should expect sub 10 degree temperatures and lots of rain so I'm wondering if I should opt for the Garonne, especially considering there seems to be a train running along the route that I could use if things get especially wet.

I’m currently looking at the Velosud / Pyrenees Coast to Coast (V81) which looks delectable.
In terms of the weather, last year I did Paris – Mediterranean Sea – Toulouse, from end September until November and I had incredible weather. 20 – 25c during the day and I had 0 rain the whole month of October, I guess I got really really lucky, but October “can” be a really nice month.
