  1. Awesome stuff Doddy, the era I grew up with with bikes! I worked with Jez at a bike shop in the North East (Bike Scene) for work experience, he was nuts, remember him getting a telling off from the shop owners for doing Switzerland squeakers in the workshop on a brand new customer bikes 😅

  2. I had a pair of those MC Suspenders forks. I got them cheap in mid 90s. The top caps were about 2" in diameter but you had to try and unscrew them with a tiny 6mm Allen socket in the middle of them. Aluminium cap – metal Allen key – instant rounding off!

  3. I was drooling over the bikes in this video. Malverns never disappoints. Nice to see a San Andreas! I have a 1997 Moho CXS. Thanks for sharing,Doddy!

  4. Great video Doddy.
I think the idea of walking past the judges is a great idea, with so many bikes there it's hard to see some of them when they are squashed in next to something else.
I think categories is a good idea, obviously the amount of catagories could go on for ever so might be worth making it simple like Rigid, hard tail and full suspension. There could possibly be a prize in each category of £300 for first, £200 for second and £100 for third that way the total prize fund would only be £50 more than the current prize fund.

  5. Great content as always Doddy and nice to see all those awesome bikes in more detail… Thanks for the VGT mention and no problem, happy to supply the AV for you on the Mondraker booth. 👍🏼

  6. I loved watching that step back in time. As a long time bike pro I was able to acquire some of Tomac's gunmetal blue Sun Rims Singlewides. My modern bikes just survived a round of upgrades so now I'm ready for a retro build.
Tomac rims will be built into a Kona Ti Score Out-of-Bounds hardtail with an OG Marzocchi Mr. T, (Double Triple Clamp/Orange) and a mostly period build.
I'm ready for a retro bike show but none around me.
    👍🏻

  7. Doddy banging out one of the best mtb-related videos of the year in that sneaky bit of time at the end of the day after the kids are in bed. I love it. What an array of fabulous bikes and mtb history. Brilliant.

  8. Love the old bikes!!!!! So many amazing bikes there =D I really wish i could have made it. You are still not selling me on the hole 29er thing though, but nice try 😛

  9. Thanks Doddy, a great overview as i Unfortunately missed the event again this year. I feel the mountain cycle could be a great retro eBike conversion with space in the frame for an internal battery. A Raleigh chopper could also be a great potential for eBike conversion with the under seat rack to support the battery, before people scream Chopper sacrilege i was thinking of using a mk3 frame, hub drive rear wheel with cassette and rear mech and a mk2 seat? On the theme of retro 26" wheels my first want was a Raleigh Bomber as a teenager in the eighties, but i actually got a Halfords X16 (i think was the model) one xmas. Which was similar to the Bomber with 26" wheels 3speed sturmy archer, black frame but with red tires with tan walls and read seat. Would love to see either of these at the show and shine next year.

  10. Doddy…..you're ace. You save me ….I missed the collection so thanks for your pick of the pops. Can't believe you've not met Jamie Tatlow before. Come ride with us on the Surrey Hills one Wednesday.
    Keep up the excellent work.

  11. Just built a 1998 explosif for my son as his first full sized MTB.
My wife is still riding her Ritchey Nitanium Rockhopper and I’m on a ‘96 DeKerf – long live 90s bikes 🙂

  12. Great video mate and was lots of very nice retro bikes to look at. Mines the Copper Pace and is the first retro build I’ve done and was a rush to finish for the show. A few changes planned for it ready for next years show…😎👍

  13. As much as I like the idea of the introductory promenade past the judges; if each bike intro took one minute this year, that would be over two hours before all the bikes were even set up for everyone to drool over….? 🙄

  14. Tell me I am wrong, but the 2nd placed Yeti is a Pro FRO, not an A.R.C.. And the V3000 is all custom, the Magura are way later models. Awesome video otherwise, always enjoy geeking out "with" you

  15. love that cannondale paint job at the beginning (as well as all the usual suspect dream retro bikes). the only thing i have that is retro from my bike life is my local motion dominator reflex gloves bought new in around 91/92 . i may be an old fart now but it was bloody awesome growing up when all these bikes and components wee brand new (not that i could afford them as a skint teen 😂

  16. our pimp OG Doddzy never fails to provide his viewing audience with the best bike porn out there… I am spent!
special mention to the Kona Humu Humu Nuku Nuku Apua'a, I still own a '96 humu that I used throughout my 15 yrs as a bike messenger and I read in MBA mag in '98 when the Stab was released to the public that the team riders were given a different two tone flame paint job
