This rack is setup with p clips at the bottom of the forks which I've been assured are quite strong however with some weight it wobbles slightly, more than other racks I've used in the past. Obviously I'll never be moving the handlebars like this when riding but given this setup is intended for some off-roading, does anyone with a more physics based mind/direct experience with this have any advice other than change the fork to one with stays. Thanks for any answers!

    Is this rack setup safe?

    1. It’s not the P-clips (and if it were, you could easily use the mudguard mounts instead), but that S-Bend thingy on top.

Ok, I realise the cantilever is in the way, but maybe you could create something that goes, in a straight line, left and right off the cantilever to two corners of the rack?

    2. I think you know the answer, you don’t want any weight shifting around unexpectedly, especially if it can effect your steering. Last thing you want coming round a corner at speed and wham your bike suddenly isn’t going to where you are pointing it.

I suspect your crown mount isn’t stiff enough.

i’ve never seen a crown mount bent into an S. that’s likely causing a lot of the extra flex. is there a reason you couldn’t have it bent into an L shape?

the p clamps are probably strong enough and not the issue.

    4. You need better quality better fitting P-clamps as well as a straight and stronger crown mount. Any chance you’re in NYC area ?

    5. The rack is too tall for that bike. The p-clamps are not the problem. The upper mount does not look safe – you don’t want sway on your front rack – something can end up in your spokes. Find a shorter, more sturdy rack and a better upper mount solution, like the one linked in the other comment.

idfk. if you didn’t zoom out before the end of that clip, i kinda hope it gently falls
