I think there is something wrong with me. I’m about to put all the white bixes shiny bits on the orange bike bcux I had one I loved dearly stolen 15 years ago? That’s just silly. She is a Sycip= Full chorus/ all other steel or aluminum parts are pure Paul/Thompson/King(cage&chris)mavic Cough [wellgo]
He is… well, he’s Jake the fuckin snake.
1999 when Easton still made the tubes busted up 105, the ugliest fork I’ve ever seen on that frame featuring scratches and scars from what I assume to be dang good times. I paid 500 including shipping xcountry. I think I overpaid. I don’t care. I love him and if you don’t understand that dad, maybe I’ll just run away!!! *cough
ahem* The sycip is absolutely beautiful and perfect and light and fast and so sexy in the sunlight. And I’m about to pillage her garden so I can drape beautiful fragrant flowers all over a dried out bush in a culvert. Halp.

    1. The Jake introduced cyclocross to me. Wish they would do another and stop fing with gravel.

    2. Ride the sycip and enjoy it while you enjoy building the Jake… and then enjoy riding the Jake

      I see no downsides

    3. My inclination is to preserve the Syclip and find another donor if you want to upgrade parts. I always have a hard time actually using even rough bikes as donors unless the frame is actually broken.

    4. Make the Jake a single speed, either tensioner or throw an eccentric hub on it so you can go full tracklocross, then you have two bikes with individual purpose.
