Beautiful home town. So nice and clean and looks like a lot to do
Should have taken people to see pagehall and the future of most areas.
Couldn't watch the video as it wobbled about and made me feel unwell. Sad. I wanted to see around your town
Have a bone to pick with you Mr Messner, Amy Johnson was born in Kingston upon Hull, come on the train and have a pedal round it's pretty flat, you'd love it.
I grew up 8 miles from Sheffield, so it was my local 'big town'. Mum's family have roots there going back to the 1700s, her dad was born in the Orange Tree Tavern on Orange Street, not far from City Hall (which is a concert venue, not the Town Hall in the video) in about 1913, records show the pub closed in 1927.
After the war he secured a job with Sheffield City Council in the Town Hall and did 34 years there. We'd go and meet him during school holidays and have lunch in the Town Hall restaurant, waitress service, but really cheap!
I left 35 years ago and have only revisited the centre 4-5 times over that time and whilst the work does seem to be never ending the improvements from the mid 80s when the pits and steelworks were closing are a real improvement with the new blending with the old.
Where was you brought up Paul…Its Wouster sauce where i’m from. Very sheffield.not of you !!!..
I remember going to the Lead mill donkeys years ago! Fond memories!
Hi Paul,
You might already know, but Sheffield Hallam have produced a booklet called ‘Where Bombs Fell’, link below:
https://shura.shu.ac.uk/15051/1/WBF_%20SHURA_16_17_sm.pdf
The maps on pages 3, 4 & 5 might show the bombs which fell on your patch.
No limits with the Brompton people travel the world on them .and don't worry about hills to much even the best bike Packers hike a bike .
Yahoo, brilliant
Is snooker really a sport 😅 Sheffield looks like a nice city to live in. 😊
You should try the bike on Peaty's Steel City downhill course! I saw Jarvis Cocker in the Crucible once. He wasn't playing snooker.
really enjoyable vid! I regret selling my brompton it was so much fun! random question but what jacket do you have on? need a new one for winter and i like the style! cool helmet too
Love the bike video Paul keep them coming something different is great thanks Daren
Nice to see you on the Brommy, look forward to the bike packing
You’ve made me realise I’m completely ignorant regarding Sheffield, despite not living far away. I’m going to get over there , looks great
Enjoyed your tour around Sheffield Paul. Looks like a nice place to live with lots of green space and hills – a bit like Edinburgh where I live. Looking forward to the bikepacking 😊
I didn't no you lived in sheffield Paul. I was brought up in Walkley. But now live at the other side of the city now. I enjoyed you video.
I’ve ridden bikes for over 60 years Paul but the Brompton I bought in early 2015 changed my life, quite simply the best money I ever spent. Don’t compare it to big wheeled bikes – rather, look on it as an extension to your own legs with the bonus that it can carry your camping gear too. The fact you can take it on a train or bus without booking means you can decide at breakfast that you’d like to be in Scotland by teatime and have a couple of days cycling around the highlands with very little forethought.
Sheffield looks not bad for a city 👍🏻
Paul it's WoOst- er-Chair- Shure Sauce… Got my Cheese on toast with me lol
Man, really enjoyed the ride. Windsor Gardens are beautiful. The Queen came here to look at some horses. Much respect and admiration for her. Sad she is gone. I have knives made in Sheffield and other cutlery items. Mowing blades saws, axes. Great steel. Mid sixties production. Schrade Walden knives. Very interesting as to everyday life. All good. Sent you some info on my seat. Hey, next time.
wow.. what a beautifull place.. ride safe always paul, your the same with my father bike lover.. i enjoy watching your vid.. nice one thank for sharing
Nice tour mate , only ever been to the children’s hospital with our youngest years ago. A good workout on the Brompton with those Sheffield hills, look forward to the brommy trip. Were out on a 3 dayer from Tuesday 🌧️😂⛺️🚲👍
Where is everyone? Hardly any cars or people…even at the university! I love it!!!
Great video as always and nice tour of Sheffield. A slight correction though Amy Johnson was born in Hull and went to Uni in Sheffield so keep your hands off! 😂😂😂
