In this video I show what is happening to the A418 Oxford Road in Aylesbury during its closure which will last for two weeks. Also seen is the progress (or lack of!) between Thame Valley Viaduct and the Princes Risborough railway line near Stoke Mandeville.

If you're looking for somewhere else to film there's now lots going on around Stoke Mandeville with the construction of the bypass
Had a road closure outside my house for a few days (small village). Lots of people try their luck, moving the barriers and driving half on the pavement to get past.
Breaks my heart to see what a carve up they've made of all that lovely countryside
Being an avid fan of the various UK dashcam channels, I'm not even slightly surprised that there's drivers who only realise the road's closed when they get to the impassable part. So many drivers are on mental autopilot these days, and they scarcely notice anything beyond the ten feet in front of them.
Good video buddy. Gorgeous day for it too.
Cheers for the update Karl 👍
Great video. Thanks very much Karl.
''when everything is connected up the water will drain away'', you seem very confident!
The cycleway and footpath was open today. 18th August.
Six years in, you'd expect more progress to have been made to be honest.
Walked the route yesterday (Sunday) and it looks as as if one section of the parapet is now in place. Several sections appear to be on the ground and I have just seen (Monday) several more sections arriving. Signage is plentiful. People just don't seem to believe it really means it.
Thanks for the update Karl.
Why is this Gravy train taking so long to build in the 1840[s they added 5000 miles of railway in 5 years with pick and shovel in budget too in most cases this crowd cant build less than one hundred in 15 years and what happened to the 27 billion it was supposed to cost !!! As for nothing happening its always like that!!
Karl, thank you so much for these updates on HS2. I really enjoyed your question, 'I wonder how much those blokes sitting on plastic chairs get paid?' That's exactly what my wife and I wonder as we've driven past! Re people ignoring signs, way back at the Thame bypass roundabout there's a lot of diversion signage saying about the closure of the A418, perhaps because it mentions HGVs, other drivers might think it doesn't apply to them. On a personal note, we live in Haddenham and do our big shop in Sainsburys in Aylesbury, so yesterday we had to go out round Waddesdon to get there. Looking forward to the next instalment.
