Hi Everyone,
I just finished restoring an 84’ Murray rode bike and I am using it to commute every day. I got a rear rack today, but the holes at the bottom don’t seem threaded, or if they are they aren’t for the screws the rack came with. And I don’t think there are any mounting screws at the top of the frame except there are two holes but impossible to reach. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for a rear rack that would fit.
    Thank you!

    1. I can’t answer the bottom bolt question- perhaps you need to thread them yourself? Or perhaps you can put a nut on the back side, but be very careful doing this to make sure it doesn’t interfere with the chain/cogs in the rear.

As far as up top goes, I think there are some racks that use the brake mounting bolt, but they are very rare. What is more common is to use a standard rack with rubber-coated “P-clips,” [like this](https://www.condorcycles.com/products/tortec-p-clips?country=US&srsltid=AfmBOopH6bDR4Md8e8traiXPgQ9YZO_xQQ92e8MRZfiQD1De8aakTWSc4pY&variant=27875279994963). Just about any bicycle shop should have them.

The holes you see on the top of the seat stays are there for manufacturing, the air inside the tube gets really hot when being welded/brazed so it needs to be able to escape. They aren’t meant for rack mounts
