Have you ever considered delivering Amazon parcels to earn yourself some extra cash? In this video I share my experiences of driving on the Amazon Flex program here in the UK.

I was initially excited about doing some driving for Amazon and thought it would be an easy way top make some extra holiday cash! It was not what I expected.

With Amazon Flex, you deliver parcels with your own car at times that suit you – you can choose to deliver as little or as often as you like. All you need is a smartphone, a valid UK driver’s licence and to be 18 or older. When you sign-up and apply via the app, you will be guided through the registration process before selecting where you want to deliver.

    1. I do 6 days for yodel…needs must as I have an autistic son and it does provide flexibility….but….it slowly destroys your car…brakes…suspension, tyres etc. You aren't paid to load up…nor are you paid for fuel….its not as lucrative as the papers have you believe. As I say I do it out of necessity. Oh and if im outwith the 2 hr timeslot for a delivery im not paid for that delivery. Also top up insurance to take into account.

    2. Seems to you wasted too much knocking on doors trying to find someone. This is usually not necessary. Put the package on the porch, take a picture and move on! Do not waste time!!

    3. All are scams. These are giant corps. They are there to take any and all advantages of you. Even at 30.00 an hour, you have to pay irs, state tax, gas, wear and tear, time properly tracking business expenses. Car insurance. Not to mention personal risk. Sure, you feel good to see an incone. But, if you sit down to do the math, you are lucky to net much of anything. How much is the repair bill on the car? Car payments? Start your own business independently of a corp or just go become a real driver as employee.

    4. Organise your car correctly put big boxes in your boot

Small packets and boxes on back seat and enveloes on front seat and your good to go organisation is key then your block will end quicker because you know where each parcel is amazon flex app is easy to operate

    5. It is a job. I find the job becomes easier if I have the right attitude. To keep me in the right head space I look at it this way: I am visiting people taking them stuff and delivering smiles. A 3 hour block can easily become a 5 hour job even if you finish on time. Looking on the app for work is work for example ,1/2 hour of scrolling through the app looking for a block is work. Getting to the pickup station is work. Getting home or to your next gig after you complete your block is work. All of that time can add up to a 3 hour block taking up to 4 to 4.5 hours. Slow down to move fast.

    6. Somebody else calculated the hourly rate as £13 per hour after tax and taxable mileage allowance. For the same rate you can drive for Royal Mail on a paid hourly wage and a union on your side.

    7. PLEASE ANSWER THIS: I ALREADY KNOW IT'S AN "AT WILL" EMPLOYMENT FACILITY…PLEASE, THERE'S NO NEED TO DRIVE THAT POINT HOME.

MY QUESTION IS 'WHY' TREAT A PHYSICALLY FIT, EAGER, GOOD NATURED, EXTREMELY PROMPT PERSON, LIKE THAT???…

And THEN LIE (gaslighting her) while she's crying, only to tell her that she's VOLUNTERILY QUITTING???…The woman was a well decorated VETERAN in the military!!! The woman hadn't had a job in over twenty-four YEARS…She's a DISABLED VETERAN (not physically). She's an 62yr old African-American just like 'me' that's WHY I can relate so well: she's kind of ratty-looking in the face, but awefully nice to be around. WHY-THE-LIE???…

      Location: Sumner, Washington

      DSP: All Purpose Carrier(s)

      Owner: Michael V. Mazuets

QUESTION: 'WHY' would a DSP fire an EAGER elderly woman as a potential Driver, for flunking the WRITTEN (TABLET) test…
And then TELL her that SHE HAD VOLUNTARILY QUIT on paper, when she stood there BEGGING them to become ANYTHING else:

      A Driver's Helper, a Warehouse Worker, a Janitor…ANYTHING???!!!

I saw the poor woman with tears in her eyes, BEGGING them NOT to be fired!!!

WHY: why would a DSP LIE and convince the woman that SHE'S voluntarily quitting???…And WHO would care about this level of treatment, anyway???…She had tried her best on the written test but she FLUNKED the very last section of it TWICE: with a 60%. And 70% the 2nd time.

'Why' not just fire the tired old sorry-sap??? What's up with the VOLUNTARY bait & switch tactic???…How is it advantageous for this "Mazuets" guy to say that she's quit???…Being unemployed for over twenty-four years, she really wanted to make a good impression???…I'm quite sure that she'll get over it; I'm just curious as to 'why'???…Why NOT just fire her and let it go at THAT.

YOUR guess is as good as mine???…

    8. Amazon flex is only worth doing if you’re already delivering food or doing cabbing and to be honest its a shit show of a job you can do upto 40 miles per shift that doesnt include getting home so you could start say at a location near your house to pick everything up but finish 40 50 miles away and driving back home means another 40 50 miles.
Pay is below minimum wage usually as well after you take into account special hire and reward insurance paying tax since the shift payment doesn’t include tax or NI contribution and your fuel if you dont have electric pretty much screwed

    9. That was a really good video thanks for being upfront and it seems like the money isn’t worth the hassle.

What was your hourly rate after stoppages, fuel, tax so I know the real bottom line?

    10. That's what happened to me this past weekend. It was my first time delivering, but I know I'll get better at it. Just gotta be patient and get the hang of it

    11. Totally agree mate. Delivered my last 3 parcels & this women in Manchester Blackley area saw me after I knocked on her door & she more interested in indulging on her tea than receiving her parcel. Ignorant 🤮

    12. I appreciate it’s probably location dependent and also dependent on an individuals personal circumstance , I do blocks to supplement my income from my new business . Personally I find it really straight forward , never takes the full time and the prices have gone up significantly compared to when I did it for a bit during covid . I’d 100% recommend

    13. I'm in Scotland and I'm 47 yrs old and have just started amazon flex with a dsp company. I'm on my 90% nursery route and finishing around 6pm but been told I'm still not quick enough 😂 Amazon flex app shows our working hours are up to 7.45pm. I'm not sure what these guys want from me.

    14. This is an interesting take. Some people just don't have common sense and some people are not used to actually working for the few dollars they make. I'm not defending the low pay, but it's hard to feel sorry for a guy who does no preparation and who doesn’t have the common sense to organize his delivery items before hand. I mean c'mon. What did you think it would be like with just chaos in your car? No sense at all. Drama unnecessarily.

    15. Second time I've had to stop and comment and I'm not done with the video. You're not a blue collar worker friend. You're white collar all the way. What kind of cake job do you normally do for money? You're complaining about some really basic common sense thinking here. Are you used to sitting inside, alone, without customers or phone calls, just doing lab work or writing, with a vauge deadline many days in the future, and you take home regular income? Because that's not what this is. If you had ever actually had to work for your money at some point in your life, you would have understood this prior to making a video complaining about the most basic thinking and strategic issues that you're flustered over. This video has to be simply to drum up clicks and traffic. Right? 😂 OMG…

    16. amazon flex i have mixed feelings been doing it for a while! im just wondering how far amazon expect there drivers to travel done a 4 hr block but i done 150 mile got home just as my block finished

    17. Great video Simon. Good to get a different perspective from all the roaring success stories. I've signed up recently and now awaiting an opportunity to get started. Much to think about, cheers.

    18. This job seems like a breeze, I'm 53 and work 8 hours lifting 15 – 20 kg boxes from pallets for minimum wage and I'm in pain everyday I'm thinking this is a good job for me.
