    1. Not sure how people treat bike rust. But you could try what I do with rusty gun parts. I use CLP (clean, lubricate, preserve) and some very high grit sand paper or a scotch brite pad, even a green dish sponge would work. The green sided dish sponge would be less abrasive and leave no scratches on your frame. The other ways mentioned above will leave scratches and may leave shiny spots ruining the raw look.

      Just work the clp into the metal, work it in a few microns deep, and your frame shouldn’t rust for a while.

      The only safe way to ride raw for a long time is using a clear coat. If you keep riding raw unfinished metal, it’ll continuously rust.

      So try to work some clp into your frame if you can, and then clear coat it when it’s at the rust-stage you desire.
