One of the highlights of my recent family vacation in The Netherlands was visiting the Hunebedcentrum in Borger, province Drenthe. The stones from the Hunebedcentrum is the largest dolmen in the Netherlands. When you stand in front of it, you realise how large and impressive the monument is. The size of the stones alone is unimaginable. The largest stone weighs more than 20 tonnes and then consider that it was moved here around 150,000 years ago during an ice age, all the way from Scandinavian Countries, such as Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

The dolmen was built around 3400 BC and is therefore around 5400 years old. With its 9 capstones, 28 supporting stones, 5 gate side stones and 2 ring stones and a length of 22.6 metres, this is the largest dolmen in the Netherlands.
