Hey and welcome to my channel! My name is Elizabeth and you join me on my 8th day of my bikepacking trip from the Netherlands to Copenhagen! In the previous video I took the ferry from Germany to Denmark and today I have my first day of cycling in Denmark. And I can say: it is beautiful!! The landscapes are super diverse and the weather is great too! If you are thinking of going to Denmark, watch this video and you will be convinced 😉

    1. Your pronounce of Hesnæs is actually correct.
      If you speak German, you can use it to pronounce Danish words and places. It will be correct in 80% of the words.
      Æ=Ä
      Ø=Ö This one is important, because ØL is not oil in Danish, it is beer. 🙂 Ø is also a one-letter word for island.
      Å is special, but easy. Just use Google Translate to hear it. Double A is also Å, as in Aalborg. Å is also a one-letter word for stream/small river. We do not have rivers in DK, if you see one, it is an Å
      Y=Û

      The sounds from these 3 special letters, are the same in Swedish and Norwegian. So here you have an opportunity to learn 3 languages in one stroke.

      A very good video, with summer vibes.

      EDIT: BTW, since you like the sea, I will inform you that the Danish coastline is 8750 km. So plenty to be happy about 🙂

    2. Hey, I’m planning on cycling from Amsterdam to Copenhagen this summer. I’ll be cycling it on my own which is kind of massive for me as I’ve never done a long haul cycle trip before, let alone one on my own! If you have any advice as another solo female traveller I’d love to hear it. Or if you have made your route public I think it would be so helpful for me to see. Especially the part through Denmark!

      Best wishes,
      Sarah

    3. Rice, chocolate and a few nuts for dinner after a long ride? That's rough! Hope you got to have a nice, big breakfast the next day!

    4. The small church to the left in Gedser, was made by a famous Danish architect, Ove Jensen Klint, father of Kåre Klint (Mostly known for his Danish Style Furniture), and they made the very Sculptural, "Grundtvigs Church" in Copenhagen. Kåre Klint finished his Fathers ideas.
      And you may have noticed the old electric Windmill tovers outside Gedser, from the War? One became restarted in the sixties and the results became the start of "The Danish Windmill Adventure"!! We still make about half of the modern Electricity Windmills in the world!

    5. Very nice, you were blessed with the weather. I don't like them, but I always carry two MRE (Meal Ready to Eat) in case there is no opportunity to shop. Looking forward to the next installment.
