I have done the measurements and my 20l ortlieb pannier bag would fit quite nicely in a wald 139 basket.

All large capacity/good quality basket specific bags are so expensive and in general unavailable. I understand its a big niche and good products cost good money but before I embark on an adventure with a pannier bag in a basket, what do the naysayers have to say?

    1. I’m not sure why you think it would be a problem. Make sure the roll goes downhill so the rain doesn’t run into it.

The only reason not to is that a pannier is quite a bit heavier than you need. If you already own it then why not, but if you’re buying something I would just get a cheap dry bag.

    3. The real abomination is setting your wall racks at the exact height that your rear wheels rest on the ground.

      Hold it right there!

Tho it could be possible to just attach it to the handlebar for 0$…

    5. Great idea. Wald baskets are OP. Better yet though, why not get a dry bag with backpack straps?

There’s nothing stopping you. I’d strap it down so it doesn’t bounce out.

Fun fact: Pannier *meant* basket, or ‘bread basket’ originally, as borrowed from the French. As part of English, though, we say PAN-yer or PAN-ee-yer.
